Thomas Greer is the Director of Communications and Public Relations of Siemens Government Technologies (SGT), Inc., the separate but affiliated U.S. government arm of technology powerhouse Siemens. With project teams across the U.S. and internationally, SGT is a cleared provider of Siemens products, technologies and software to solve some of the most complex government challenges in energy, automation and digitalization.
Greer is responsible for all communications activities, encompassing internal and external communications programs, marketing, advertising, and media relations.
Prior to joining SGT, Greer led all communications activities for Operation Homefront, a Charity Navigator four-star military nonprofit addressing the stability and security needs of military families. While at Operation Homefront, he was responsible for the full suite of engagement and outreach with constituencies including the media, military and government leaders, employees, partner organizations and the public relations teams of Fortune 100 corporate foundations and philanthropic supporters.
Before Operation Homefront, Greer spent more than a dozen years with Lockheed Martin, where he progressed rapidly through a series of challenging assignments demonstrating acumen in a variety of roles. In 2004, he helped lead national media relations following the abduction of an employee overseas, and through a critical leadership assignment in 2009, led employee and media communications following the cancellation of the presidential helicopter program, resulting in a staff reduction of 25% at the corporation’s Owego, New York site. He also co-led a team that developed the communication plan to dissolve the Electronic Systems business area, saving the corporation approximately $50 million annually.
A U.S. Navy veteran, Greer served as aide to the Navy’s Chief of Information in the Pentagon and led all public relations activities for Navy SEAL training in Coronado, California, developing an entirely new SEAL recruiting website and leading the production of an award-winning documentary on SEAL training in 1999.
Greer holds a Bachelor of Arts in environmental science from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Science in cyber security from the University of Maryland Global Campus.
